Born in 1939 in Milan, Francesco Binfaré was director of the Cassina Research Centre from 1969 to 1976, during which period, certain classics of contemporary design were born. In 1980, he founded his own Design and Communication Centre for research and the promotion of projects, some of which came into being for Cassina: Wink by Toshiyuki Kita (1980), Tramonto a New York (1980) and Feltri (1987) by Gaetano Pesce. He promotes initiatives for publishing experiments in furniture for the avantgarde (BracciodiFerro, 1973) and for the use of interactive media in architectural projects (Environmedia, 1974). He taught for some years at the Domus Academy in Milan and then at the Royal College of Art in London. He has produced drawings, paintings, installations and projects of furniture design. |
